After balancing our budget we noticed that we had a little money left over from the donations we received so we sought out another family that we could help with school clothing.
We found a family in great need. The father works as the caretaker of a rural school in the mountains and is given the shack behind the school to live in with his wife and three children. (Actually the students from the school built the shack for the family, but that is another story).
The father earns a very small salary since her has a free place to stay. The family often doesn't have food and it is apparent the they are all very malnourished.
Through our local family we offered to help and above is the letter we received from the oldest son. He is thanking us for the offer and only asks for a pair of shoes for each of them, and one uniform for each of them. I forget to mention that although this familiy is one of, if not the poorest in the school, the eldest son is in the top of his class.
We are able to buy the kids each a pair of school shoes and tennis shoes. Each a uniform as well as socks and underwear. The oldest son also received a new jacket and the mother a new pair of sandals. We bought the father a new dress shirt and he began to cry. He had not had a new shirt for as long as he could remember. There was even enough left over to buy a chicken, beans, and rice.
You can not believe just how happy all of them were today!
Thank you all for allowing us to share in this wonderful happiness while trying to be a reflection of God's light and love. Making someone feel loved, cared for, and wanted is the greatest gift of all.
