Our tourist Visas are only good for 3 months and we needed to leave the country for 3 days in order to renew them for another 3 months. Tapachula Mexico was the closest and cheapest place to travel to so that is what we did. Our friends Maria and Javier were able to drop us off but they had to return to Xela, Guatemala, so Liz and I were on our own.
We actually had a lot of fun. The weather here however is really hot and humid. Liz enjoyed the hotel's air conditioning and the nice room and made a daily excursion with me. Thanks Liz. I on the other hand tend to get restless and needed to go out and about more often.
It was fun walking around town and exploring.
Mexico is a different culture than Guatemala and I enjoyed watching the people.
Did I mention good food?
Tacos
Steak
Enchiladas
There were beautiful churches to visit - Saint Augustin's
And swimming
And more walking. I think I walked at least five miles a day.
But the highlight of the trip was having Mass at the San José Cathedral on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and the start of the Jubilee Year of Mercy!
NOW - Back to Guatemala!!!!!
Visas will be stamped in the morning and we are good for another 3 months!
